Last Switzerland trip was in April for apartment/cat sitting. Unfortunately the mountains were still covered in snow so I didn’t get a chance to explore much. This trip’s focus is mainly adventure running plus a little bit of WFH (Work From Switzerland) and apartment/cat sitting.

My last day at the current company is August 1st, so the first week I will be just in Zurich apartment/cat sitting while I finish up my works. After that I will be unemployed and continue my solo exploring of the Alps.

Transportation

It is highly recommended to travel by train/tram/bus. You can download the SBB Mobile app on the phone to manage all the logistics. I also purchased the one-month Traveller Half-Fare card which can be applied to all the fares for a discount.

Via Valais

Swiss Alps Trail Running Grand Tour

9-stages in the Valais region from Verbier to Zermatt covering 225km with 14’000m+/- elevation gain/lost.

I followed the Via Valais route for all except I was unable to stay at Turtmann Hut for stage-6 because it was full. Instead, I stayed in Gruben for stage-6, and covered the distance between Gruben and Turtmann Hut as part of stage-7.

Half Board - covers dinner and breakfast at the huts.
Sack Lunch - can be purchased the evening before (10-15 CHF).
