2006

As I got more and more into X Window System, I began playing with dual monitors. It was a struggle at first, but once the software started to mature, things were looking good.
2005

I was really into Linux at this point. Tuning config and rc files for all the utils I use on a daily basis. My favorites are bash rc files, screenrc, and vimrc, just to name a few.
I was never a Desktop Manager kinna guy. Openbox was my Window Manager of choice; light weight, simple, and elegant. I even bought an Apple iBook (G3), loaded it with Debian, and installed all the tools on it.
2003

As I got more involve in the Linux community, I learned the different flavors of Linux and their package management system. Thats when I switched from Redhat to Debian (Woody 3.1 to be exact). APT was just so much superior than RPM when it comes to dependencies.
The same year where I attended my first LinuxWorld Conference and Expo at the Mascone Center in San Francisco. I only had an exhibitor pass, but it was a fun event, from enthusiasts to corporate companies.
2002

It was Redhat 7.3 when I finally replaced my primary OS on my desktop from Windows to Linux. I wasn’t really using Windows for much other than surfing the web and connecting to terminals, and I felt Linux was mature enough at that point for someone like myself to run it on the desktop.
2000
I logged on to a Unix machines when I was at SFSU but was mainly checking email with pine
. Not until I “left” the university and decided to take an “Intro. to UNIX” class in the summer at CCSF where I finally started getting into Unix/Linux and the community.
